Myatt has co-produced two documentaries: “An Ocean of Courage,” the true story of the men of the USS Mason, a WWII Destroyer manned by an all-Black crew, which airs twice a year on Time Warner Cable (BCAT); and an exploration into the changing style of African American poetry in “Black Poets in America”. Her talents include co-authorship of “Off the Wall Talent Agency” and “Mums the Word,” two whimsical, warm-hearted screenplays that offer a fresh, laughter-splashed perspective in the little things that happen between family and friends. In 2008, she will release "Lasting Impressions - Her Side" the first of a romance trilogy. Ms. Myatt is a graduate of Long Island University in Downtown Brooklyn, New York and a Certified Life Skills Educator. She is formerly a columnist with the Daily Challenge, a Brooklyn-based newspaper. She has also served as Board of Director for the Shirley Chisholm Day Care Centers. In 1981, while serving as a youth counselor, Patricia was asked by one of the neighborhood’s young men to become his boxing manager. The request was unusual and she inquired why he had chosen her. He replied he needed someone he could trust, who would “watch his back” (look out for him). Although she was a novice to boxing, she registered with the New York State Division of Athletic Commission and New Jersey State Athletic Commission and became the youngest and first female African American Boxing Manager licensed on record. Patricia’s other media and guests appearances include: Black Expo 2007, Long Island University NABA (National Association of Black Accountants) (2006), We The People (legal services) (2006), Romance Writers Association (2005), Portrayed “The Woman” in the WLIU TV Comedy Special by the same name (1994), WLIB Radio Live at the Brooklyn Museum on Brooklyn Cultural Change (1987), “Flo’s Place,” Channel 16 TV, Fashions for the Full Figured Woman (1985), WWRL Radio Action Women, “Professional Women in Business (1984).” She has received awards and honors from Long Island University Alumni Association (1995) and the Professional Black Women in Business (1988). Ms. Myatt’s community affiliations include; Member of the Executive Board of the Tenants Association of University Towers, Inc. (1992-2002), Board of Director, Shirley Chisholm Day Care Centers (1987-1992), Volunteer Story Teller at Lutheran Medical Center (1985), March of Dimes Walk through Central Park (1984), Easter for the Children at Brooklyn Hospital (1983), The Great Bed Race for Muscular Dystrophy, sponsored by Z100 radio station (1982), Youth Counselor/Mentor Willoughby House Settlement, Brooklyn (1978-1984), Tenant Advocate (1970-present). On a more personal note, Ms. Myatt has donated time and money to organizations such as; Muscular Dystrophy, March of Dimes, United Way, Feed the Children, American Red Cross, Katrina, Walk for Aids Foundation, Share Cancer Support, The United Negro College Fund, and more. She is a breast cancer survivor since 2002. |
